Privacy Policy

in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

The protection of your personal data is of particular concern to the Medical University of Vienna (MedUni Vienna).

With this privacy policy, we would like to inform you about the basic aspects of data processing when visiting or using the website of the National Reference Center for Post-Viral Syndromes.

Data processing

Cookies

MedUni Vienna uses cookies on this website. Cookies do not cause any damage to your device and do not contain viruses. The aim is to make the website and our services more user-friendly, effective, and secure.

On the one hand, we use “session cookies,” which are automatically deleted at the end of your visit.

MedUni Vienna uses the open source web analysis service Piwik/Matomo for this purpose, whereby IP addresses are anonymized before they are stored by replacing the last two digits with zeros. Information about the use of this website is not passed on to third parties.

On the other hand, other cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies enable us to recognize your browser the next time you visit.

Note: You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and only allow cookies in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general, and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when you close your browser. If you deactivate cookies, the functionality of this website may be restricted.

Data processing is carried out on the basis of the legal provisions (Art. 6 (1) GDPR), namely on the legal basis of “overriding legitimate interests of MedUni Vienna” (lit. f). If you have given us your consent to the use of cookies on the basis of a notice (“cookie banner”) provided by us on the website, the legality is additionally governed by Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR.

Log files

When you visit and use our website, we collect personal data that your browser automatically transmits to our server and temporarily stores (log file). The following data is collected in order to display our website to you and to ensure stability and security:

  • IP address
  • Date and time of access
  • Name and URL of the file accessed
  • Identification data of the accessing browser and operating system
  • Website from which access is made

Data processing is carried out on the basis of the legal provisions (Art. 6 (1) GDPR), namely on the legal basis of “overriding legitimate interests of MedUni Vienna” (lit. f), as the aforementioned data is technically necessary for the provision of a website.

The log files are deleted after a period of time specified in accordance with security standards.

Your data will not be passed on/transferred to third parties outside MedUni Vienna.

Social media

On our website, the recommendation buttons for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, and Xing are implemented as direct HTML links; the recommended page is entered as a parameter in the link. This means that no data is transferred to external platforms when the page is displayed.

MedUni Vienna has no influence on the content and data protection standards of the linked websites. MedUni Vienna therefore accepts no liability for external links.

For information on the scope and purpose of data collection by the respective service, as well as the further processing and use of your data, please refer to the privacy policy directly on the website of the respective service. There you will also find further information about your data protection rights and settings options for protecting your privacy.
